The decklists for Fighter's Road 2013 Hiroshima went out this morning, finally giving a look into the Spike Brothers deck that drew so much attention over the weekend. The deck is a modern spin on the classic Dudley Emperor build, using just two copies of Juggernaut Maximum that effectively act as tech cards searched directly with Emperor's limit break, and filling out the remaining grade 3 space with Bad End Dragger, the Spike Brothers' break ride that can give +10000 power to every attacking Brother when its skill is triggered, then shuffle them back in the deck to open the field up for superior calls. By using Dragger in concert with Emperor's superior call limit break, pro fighter and contender for the national title Okudaira Ryousuke is able to make two rearguard attacks in the range of 21-26000 power followed by two more of around 31000, all with a 31000 power vanguard line shaking up field's center. In a format currently dominated by 11000-power Lords this maneuver can require as much as 115000 shield to block, but leaves its fighter dangerously exposed if it is not timed correctly, and as it can only be triggered within a limited window late in a match, the slower setup is not for everyone. Okudaira's deck is noticeably more conservative than typical Dragger decks, as Bad End Dragger is the only card from BT10 than he uses, rejecting the Dudley subgroup that VG-BT10 built up.
Meanwhile the runner-up Yoshida Yuuta has demonstrated that the Eradicator decklist pioneered by Uemura Shouhei has continued to endure through Dragonic Descendant's restriction, although the general trend that Yoshida has followed has been towards the Vowing Sword Dragon break ride rather than BT11's Sweep Command, who has existed on the edges of Eradicator play ever since his set's release. Since Nanakado Yuusuke's revision that added Chou-ou and Shuki from BT11, the deck has gone virtually unchanged between different fighters, with only personal preferences over first vanguard and which cards get priority differentiating the lists.
An interesting point regarding the finalist decklists is that Bushiroad's continual efforts to bury the Full Moon deck seem to be in vain. Yet another cardfighter has taken a creative spin on the Tsukuyomi build, hybridizing Oracle Think Tank and Genesis cards into a single deck that combines Tsukuyomi's soul-based draw power and grade security with Genesis' long term offensive and mass soulcharging. Although Japan's current restricted list prevents Full Moon from being run in copies exceeding two, Yasue Takamasa was not dissuaded by the restrictions and attempted his own revival of the fan-favorite Moon deck.
The Open division team tournament has brought with it our first look at a professional Jewel Knight deck, with Kadobayashi Masaki's Salome build eschewing many Royal Paladin staples like Blaster Blade and Palamedes in favor of a pure subgroup focus on developing extra critical. An interesting innovation of the deck is its use of multiple copies of the first vanguard Tiffany, superior calling the two extra copies with Salome's and Sybill's counterblasts to pump up the power of the rearguard lines multiple times late in the match.

News: Spike Brothers Tops Hiroshima's Open Division Regional
The remaining four tournaments will take place in Fukuoka, Tokyo, Sapporo and Nagoya with the Fukuoka tournament being next in line on the 22nd. This will be the first time that Fukuoka prefecture has been included in the national tournament, and also the first time that Okayama, Hakata and Osaka will not be participating.

Murakami Ryuu is the Winter 2012 regional champion for Hiroshima, and the fifth champion to be crowned during the Fighter's Climax 2012 event. Murakami was part of a new wave of pros that based their decks out of Oracle Think Tank, making a comeback for the previously ill-represented clan toward the end of the tournament season. He became an important figure during FC2012 as one of the fighters that emerged in the wake of national champion Rikino Sakura's championing of the CoCo deck, and the most obvious representative of it in the senior championship.
Decks and Play Style
Murakami provided a unique take on the CoCo deck, omitting the then-standard Goddess of Flower Divination, Sakuya to instead make room for CEO Amaterasu and her trigger-predicting skill. While such tactics had been employed before as a substrategy to refill the soul for use with Luck Bird or with a LuLu returned to the hand through Sakuya, Murakami did not include either of these units, making her inclusion somewhat puzzling. Furthermore, his counterblast was severely restrained by Maiden of Libra and Meteobreak Wizard beyond used alongside CoCo, as using each skill once would completely empty his supply of damage with no way of unflipping it. As Sakuya was omitted, Dark Cat followed the same route, leaving little room for the easy 18000 lines that Battle Sister, Glace normally provides.
However, there are some advantageous points to the Murakami deck. Recognizing that LuLu only required an Oracle Think Tank grade 3 for her skills to activate, not a grade 1, Murakami was able to include a fifth base 8000 unit of a different clan, Mermaid Idol, Sedna. The fact that each skill can only be used once could be called a part of his strategy. Once CoCo has been ridden and LuLu's skills applied, the Murakami fighter has no further use for additional cards of this type. Instead, his maxed out copies of Emerald Witch, LaLa use the extra copies of CoCo and Amaterasu as fuel to change out into new cards. Using Cocoa, the top card of the deck can be examined; if it is not a trigger but still useful, it can then be returned to the top and LaLa can be brought out to draw into it, providing a powerful means of selectively adding cards from the deck to the hand. To an extent, this strategy emulated the power of the Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu crossride before said card was actually available to the public, without the restraints of that skill.

News: Trio Battle Results for Fighter's Road 2012 Nagoya, Hiroshima and Kanazawa
Below are the championship and runner-up teams for the Fighter's Road 2012 Trio Battle regional competitions. The three first-place teams below will go on to the national championship alongside five other teams, where one among them will be crowned as the strongest team of cardfighters in Japan.
These are the results for Nagoya, Hiroshima and Kanazawa. The outcome of the Fighter's Road events in Tokyo, Hakata, Sendai, Sapporo and Osaka has yet to be resolved.

News: Fighter's Road 2012 Hiroshima, Nagoya and Kanazawa
This morning the winners of the three initial Fighter's Road 2012 regional competitions were announced through Bushiroad's official CF-Vanguard Japanese website. This year's round of regional competitions sees the introduction of many fresh faces into the professional world of Cardfight, as well as the return of 2011 National Champions Kamosaki Mayu and Rikino Sakura.
Additionally, several families appear to have entered the junior and trio battle competitions together, as multiple cardfighters this year share surnames. First place winners in these competitions will go on to the national championship; two among them will be crowned Japan's 2012 National Champions.
Only Nagoya, Hiroshima and Kanazawa have completed their regional tournaments. We are still waiting on the results from the remaining five cities.
By far the dominant decks for the seniors division this year are Blond Ezel and Dragonic Overlord The End decks, with Majesty Lord Blaster taking a backseat to the new Gold Paladin clan. Several old deck types are also reappearing in both age divisions, with the King of Knights Alfred still being able to hold his own against modern tactics. This influx of The End decks could be seen as a reaction toward the Stand Up! Vanguard live-action drama, whose main character endeared The End to many Japanese fans.

Additionally, several families appear to have entered the junior and trio battle competitions together, as multiple cardfighters this year share surnames. First place winners in these competitions will go on to the national championship; two among them will be crowned Japan's 2012 National Champions.
Only Nagoya, Hiroshima and Kanazawa have completed their regional tournaments. We are still waiting on the results from the remaining five cities.
By far the dominant decks for the seniors division this year are Blond Ezel and Dragonic Overlord The End decks, with Majesty Lord Blaster taking a backseat to the new Gold Paladin clan. Several old deck types are also reappearing in both age divisions, with the King of Knights Alfred still being able to hold his own against modern tactics. This influx of The End decks could be seen as a reaction toward the Stand Up! Vanguard live-action drama, whose main character endeared The End to many Japanese fans.
